How easy it is to eat junk food

I've always had a sweet tooth. There was a point in my life when this, coupled with over indulgence in alcohol and less than healthy food, contributed to my being an easy 20 lbs over weight. In more recent history, I tend to indulge the craving but only now and again and in very limited qualities. At the same point in time that I was over indulging, I smoked cigarettes like I now eat junk food - couldn't say I was a non-smoker but when asked to qualify how much I smoked my response would have to have been approximately a pack every 2 or so weeks. I now enjoy a package of m&ms the same way . . .I can make a regular size bag (not king size or whatever) last a good week or so, I can forget about them and find them weeks later illiciting a response similar to finding a dollar in a pair of jeans I haven't worn in a while.Today, as I dug around in my purse and found a few m&ms rolling around from who-knows-when, I responded differently. See, recently I've been experiencing some challenges to my health and haven't been able to exercise, haven't been able to do much of anything for that matter. One would think this would make a person eat healthier but in my case, it has not. Then, I had another thought: how easy would it be just to continue to eat poorly? I had lost some weight due to a couple of hospital stays that I didn't really have to lose. People would joke, "You need more milkshakes!"
