Mike, a San Jose original, grew up in a family that valued fitness and an active lifestyle. From an early age, he trained in martial arts, hiked, ran, and lifted weights. After earning a B.S. in Justice Studies from San Jose State University, he began a career in corporate accounting.
As chronic pain and stress began to impact his health, Mike turned to yoga, meditation, and mindfulness to restore balance. What started as personal healing evolved into a new professional path. Drawing on his martial arts background, he discovered kettlebells and steel mace training—strength practices that build resilience while supporting joint health.
Mike began coaching small-group steel mace yoga classes in Portland, Oregon, blending elements of martial arts and yoga. He later earned his general training certification and expanded his practice.
Today, Mike specializes in strength and conditioning, holistic mobility, nervous system and breathwork training, and corrective exercise. He holds multiple certifications and is committed to ongoing education in health and fitness. Mike recently moved back to San Jose with his two rescue dogs, Tina and Smalls, and enjoys reading and working on art projects in his spare time.
What I like about FiT: the team atmosphere at FiT is highly supportive and creates a community environment you just don't get at a regular gym.
